Question: I’m getting this is the case because of the ideas we have about suffering, penance, etc.?

God’s answer:

Mortification

Meaning: Mortification is the feeling of being completely humiliated. The word mortification has its roots in the Latin word for "death," mors. The original meaning of mortification was religious; in Christianity the meaning is "putting your sin to death". In Christian practice, this has varied from denying oneself pleasurable things, like certain foods, to inflicting physical pain on oneself. The religious reason for this kind of mortification is to cause the "death" of sins — or desires — of the body.

Question: And you say this because when people talk about the life of saints or even the writings of the saints themselves, they portray that you want them to suffer--- part of the “purification process” – the so-called sharing in the suffering/passion of Christ?

God’s answer:

On bended knees – always.

Question: Please confirm.

God’s answer:

Negative portrayal.

Question: To confirm, what is your advice to all of us as we go through the path to make it easier, as it relates to one’s attitude towards you?

God’s answer:

The path is different for everyone. It is not a one size fits all.
